From October 4 to 20, you have the opportunity to vote in the elections for the Intersect Board and Committees. There are 123 outstanding candidates vying for 31 seats across 7 committees and the governing board. Intersect members with a paid membership of $10 can cast votes in 8 elections. About Intersect Intersect is a member-based organization within the Cardano ecosystem, empowering community members to shape Cardano's future. Intersect focuses on advancing technology and processes while fostering consensus across Cardano's governance structure. To establish Intersect and ensure it has sufficient capital to operate, seed funding has been provided by IOG and EMURGO. Intersect will seek funding for 2025 through a community vote from the Cardano Treasury or other sources in 2024. Intersect offers three tiers of membership, each with distinct benefits: Enterprise Member ($1000 USD), Individual Member ($10 USD), and Associate (free). Only Enterprise and Individual members are eligible to participate in the current voting. Enabling community members to run for key positions and be elected through transparent voting is crucial for the project's credibility and decentralization. Elections From October 4 to 20, you have the opportunity to vote in the elections for the Intersect Board and Committees. Intersect's governing board is managed by its members, supported by various committees and working groups dedicated to specific domains and interests. Intersect's Governing Board consists of five member seats. 3 seats are occupied. The remaining two seats will be filled through the ongoing elections. 18 community members are running for two seats on the Board. The voting will fill seats in seven committees: Civics Committee (4 seats, 18 candidates) Budget Committee (4 seats, 17 candidates) Intersect Steering Committee (3 seats, 17 candidates) Open Source Committee (4 seats, 10 candidates) Product Committee (4 seats) Membership and Community Committee (5 seats, 16 candidates) Technical Steering Committee (5 seats, 14 candidates) Many candidates are well-known figures in the Cardano community. Voters can select one to three candidates in each election. It's crucial for the Cardano ecosystem that any community member can hold a key position on the board and committees. The ‘one member, one vote’ system is a good choice, as DReps are elected with ADA coins. In my view, balancing both types of voting is essential. ADA whales do not have the opportunity to decide everything through their wealth. To participate in voting, individuals must be at least an Individual member, which requires a $10 fee and some basic information. Regular community members who are not Intersect members cannot vote. While this might seem restrictive, it is necessary to have measures in place to prevent Sybil attacks. If you are eligible to vote, go cast your vote for your candidates.
